How to Make ?

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Prepare the Garlic Herb Butter:

    • In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, softened butter, olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until the herbs and spices are fully incorporated into the butter.
  3. Prepare the Roast:

    • Pat the prime rib roast dry with paper towels to ensure a crispy crust. Rub the garlic herb butter mixture all over the roast, making sure to cover the entire surface, including the exposed bone.
  4. Roast the Prime Rib:

    • Place the roast on a roasting rack in a large roasting pan. Pour the beef broth into the bottom of the pan (this will keep the roast moist and catch the drippings).
    • Place the roast in the preheated oven and roast for 15 minutes to create a crust. After 15 minutes, lower the temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare. Adjust cooking time if you prefer a different level of doneness:
      • Rare: 120°F (49°C)
      • Medium: 140°F (60°C)
      • Well-done: 160°F (71°C)
  5. Rest the Roast:

    • Once the roast reaches your desired doneness, remove it from the oven and let it rest for at least 15 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute and keeps the roast moist.
  6. Carve and Serve:

    • Slice the roast against the grain into thick slices. Serve with the pan drippings and your favorite sides (such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a salad).
